We believe that association with others in similar circumstances provides opportunities to develop friendships and participate in a circle of relationships and support. Individuals with similar socialization and sensory needs spend quality time together allowing for friendships to develop outside the home.
At Paragon Community Services, people make friends with people they like and learn how to resolve conflicts with those who have contrasting values or viewpoints. Encouragement to engage in socially acceptable behavior is balanced with individual preferences, rights and choices.
Our staff to participant ratio is high, enabling us to assist those with behavioral and communication challenges that can hinder their ability to establish friendships and associate with people in their community. Paragon offers prompting in natural settings, formal groups, teaching manners and socialization skills, and individualized behavioral programs that encourage socially acceptable standards of behavior through rewards, redirection, role modeling and other strategies.
